Introduction to UFT

Unified Functional Testing or UFT is a Functional and Regression Testing Software that test both Web and Windows Application. The UFT is a licensed/commercial tool owned by HP which is one of the most popular tools available in the market. It compares the actual and expected results and reports the results in the execution summary.

Create Domain and Project on ALM

Projects are grouped by Domain. A domain contains a group of related projects and assists you in organizing and managing a large number of projects. Each domain contains a Projects folder and a Template Projects folder to organize your projects and template projects. Creating Domains You can add new domains to Site Administration. You organize…

Agile Methodologies

Agile method proposes an incremental and iterative approach to software design. The design process is broken into individual models that designers work on. There is no pre-determined course of action or plan with the Agile method. Development flows incremental and iterative approach with several different stages: Planning, Requirement Analysis, Designing, Building, and Testing. The most popular agile methods include: RUP – Rational Unified Process (1994) and Scrum (1995).

Requirement Traceability Matrix or RTM

Map business and functional requirements to test cases using HP ALM/Quality Center. Requirement Traceability Matrix or RTM is a document that maps and traces user requirement with prepared test cases. The goal of Requirement Traceability Matrix is to see that all the test cases are covered so that no functionality should miss while developed and testing.

Supported Technologies (Add-Ins) in UFT

UFT can be used to automate web based and windows based client-server applications. However, it doesn’t support all technologies by default. For an extended support, we need to load the corresponding add–in. For instance, if you were to automate an application based on Java technology, you will have to load Java add–in.

Test Automation

Test Automation is a process in which software tools control the execution of tests and the comparison of actual outcomes with predicted outcomes before it is released into production. Goal of Automation is to reduce number of test cases to be run manually and not eliminate manual testing all together.

VBScript Data Types

VBScript has only one data type called a Variant. A Variant is a special kind of data type that can contain different kinds of information, depending on how it is used. Because Variant is the only data type in VBScript, it is also the data type returned by all functions in VBScript.
